We’ve all been there. You wake up on a Monday morning, fully motivated and planning to “get fit.” You throw on your sneakers, head to the gym or clear a space in your living room, and then… you freeze.
Should I do cardio? Did I do legs yesterday? How many sets am I supposed to do? What am I even cooking for dinner?
By the time you decide, half your workout window is gone. Within two weeks, the motivation fizzles out, and you’re back to square one.
The fitness industry likes to sell us “magic” supplements, expensive boutique memberships, and complex bio-hacks. But the truth is much simpler. The only thing standing between you and your goals isn’t a lack of discipline; it’s the lack of a plan.
One of the best ways to show up to the gym prepared and ready is knowing what workout you’re going to do before you get there. I’m able to get ahead by using the iPhone app jefit. This app easily allows you to track your work outs, plan ahead and even see what weight or exercise you did previously. It’s super easy and convenient and I highly recommend it.
Why Motivation is a Liar (and Planning is the Truth)
Motivation is an emotion. It’s fleeting. It’s high when you buy new leggings or workout shoes and non-existent when it’s raining at 6:00 AM and your bed is feeling cozier than ever.
A plan, however, is a contract with yourself. When you have a plan, you stop asking “How do I feel?” and start asking “What is next on the list?” Planning removes the “decision fatigue” that kills progress.
